Tomorrow is the 1st anniversary of the shooting that injured 13, killed 6 and stopped a community in its tracks. I've been dreading this weekend for awhile, not for any reason except that I knew the mass media attention to it would make me wither. I've been procrastinating like hell, pushing to the edges of my attention important things like writing up something meaningful and smart.
Today was "Beyond Tucson" and I like the idea of it. I didn't attend any of the sanctioned events, but I spent a few hours at Sweetwater Wetlands, thinking peaceful thoughts and listening to birdcalls, foot falls, my innermost thoughts.
thanks billie...it was a bit tough, but the community has been very embracing of the journey, the emotive response most of us have, each other. i wound up not attending any of the day-of events either and i'm okay with that. maybe next year.
