Winterday 75

Me: I haven't seen Lost in Translation in awhile. I've been
thinking about it a lot lately...

[unawkward pause in conversation]

Me, continued: ... he stole my copy.
Sarah: I would've brought my copy for you to borrow!
Me: I didn't think of it.

Hours pass. I drive home, turn on the tv. I am somewhere
between awake and asleep. More hours pass. I realize it's
late, morning by most accounts. The Dog doesn't know
what to think of my in-between state. I change the channel.
And there it plays in front of me, as if conjured.

If only all my wishes were so easily conjured.
