winterfall (inspirations)
Some things I've read the last few days that have elicited some sort of deep response:
From Real Simple, January 2013:
a recipe for Mushroom Pizzette
and
"The DOC says:
Idiopathic
It Means: There's no identifiable reason why you came down with an illness or condition."
From Francois Truffaut: The Complete Films (Taschen)
"LEFT
Still from 'L'Homme qui aimait les femmes (1977)
Some people cannot pass a bookshop without going in to browse. In the case of Bertrand Morane (Charles Denner), he is compelled to look at and talk to women. Here, as he looks at the mannequin, note how the reflection of the hand in the window seems to caress him. Not only does he need to love, but he needs to be loved in return."
"MEDICAL ATLAS for Attorneys | COURTROOM DRAWINGS 161-240"
From a Village Voice review of the ReSearch book ANGRY WOMEN:
"This is hardly the nurturing, womanist vision espoused in the 1970s.
The view here is largely pro-sex, pro-porn, and pro-choice. Separatism
is out, community in. Art and activism are inseparable from life and
being."
From a reference letter:
"...Ms. Evans has been a constant bright spot."
From a personal email:
"If NYE doesn't pan out, there's always every day after that for a long time."
From one of my mumbled poems:

winterfall 41
It's the split seduction
what's a coupla decades
between strangers and love?
I want him to be talking
to or about me:
I'll let it roll and I'll
give up my vows,
play arsonist in L.A. and
love him two times.
But you?
You I'll love forever.

winterfall quarante, let's call it
The subtitle reads:
But I can't do it, Sam, I won't do it.
There's tense music, oboes
let's say. The background scene:
turbulent water, red raft
and a slow fade to bokeh.
What she really said was:
I can't explain to you why you're an idiot.
But I can't do it, Sam, I won't do it.

winterfall (mumbled number)
You say smut like it's a bad thing
she mumbled at him.
Tie me to the ribbons
floss me with feathered barbs
slide me into my skin.
Scaffolding to the rafters
folded bodies smudged,
as if that makes sense.
If I wanted you to narrate I
wouldn't have asked you to
come | over here yes ' t ' day.
Lips drawn sloppily in spit:
I can nearly taste what it is
I'm trying to be.

winterfall midnight (mumbled)
he thinks in terms of cinematography;
the roundness: of the compass, of the beast, of the breast;
it isn't enough to braid your thoughts on Tuesdays;
reddened Kool-aid, for dyeing not drinking;
chiseled from stone, an ear (faulty);
at five, it's cold and darkthirty;
too many commas;
unfurl me (dare);
danglingly;
alight.

winterfall 28
my body as traitor
as coffin and slave
body as prison,
or is it prism?
the body gradient (gravely radiant)
the body as halves and holes
my body as rec center
pleasure center
rent-a-center
tomorrow perhaps.
my body as current, as flame
untempered and undone.

He says to me French horror isn't
really horror at all.
It sounds perfectly French, I said.
