winterfall 24

what I'm doing here
is not my work
and is not productive
but is more enjoyable:

I'm re- re- watching
that opening scene in
NEWSROOM when Will yells
at that sorority girl

and brings back hope
in fiction if nothing
else like the weather
or like the state

of this our nation
one country under God
bannered amber waving grains
and justice for all.

winterfall 23

It strums at something in me that
riffed bridge and growl.

Tonight on the tongue: stringed things
and bubblegum.  I fell in love at
39 with it the pink or because
of it, bubblegum.

At 40 I can say this:
my sharpened shoulders feel like home.

He looks for me in the window
more often than not he says
like last Tuesday
and sucks his Skittles clean.

winterfall 16 (It's Yours Take It + NOLA Rising)

I feel so honored to call ReX Dingler a friend...he's an artist/activist out of New Orleans and we bumbled across each other a few years ago when we were both working different angles of the same issue:  art/community/togetherness.  That's my take, he'll describe it differently, no doubt, but since we first cyber-met, he's been a HUGE support of Sina-as-artist.  This is the second year I'm participating in his mash-up It's Yours Take It + NOLA Rising Toys for Tots...wherein artists donate artworks and fans, friends & passers by can trade a new toy for a piece of art.  It's beyond groovy.  I made 2 new jellyfish and sent them eastward today...along with a few stickup stickers of my j-fish doodles.

Back to more regular postings...soon.  :)

winterfall 8

Disclaimer:  Tonight I write my own
fictions, push them deep and deeper
down in denim pockets and grin.

I taste and taste of pineapple.

It was the Matisse smiling at me
there which is to say
the lumpy yellorange fruit made me think
                                               smile
and so I did.

No, no.

It was a finger (yours) on elbow
(mine) as we walked from there
to here, or the same finger (yours)
trained on the horizon, or a different
finger (mine) strumming at
the moment when lips (yours) made haste
as if to flutter.

winterfall 1

from an exercise in Happy Accidents: Improvisation for Writers (excerpt)

Some things you can expect from me between now and winter's midnight:

1. Process-related posts & hopefully more writing than I've managed to do in pr3vious hundreds.  I'll be working on bringing together some of my projects and getting at least 1 of them (well, 2 of them) ready for submissions.  As you know, most publishing places want your work unposted from blogs and so I just may not post at all.  I also might forget I had any of these thoughts.

2.  Animal photography

3.  Text-based & visual work from my PINK series

4.  More Stella musings as I push her around a little bit

5.  More Salton Sea exploration as I'm headed there next week.

Which brings me to my last point for now...I'll be out and about in the next week'ish and so I may not be around much or regularly or every 27 minutes.

Happy winterfalling to all my fellow hundred-daysers,
Sina
